At Packaging Source we use a hot stamping process for foiling our gift boxes, and to ensure the best quality,

we prefer the foling block to be no larger than a 60 x 60mm wide block to ensure even foiling.

We have a nice range of metallic foil paper that is used to foil onto the paper of the gift box.   These colours includes about 3 varieties of silver, gold, bronze, gunmetal grey, blue (royal, navy and sky blue), cerise pink, and violet purple.  The foiling colour can unfortunately not be coloured to specification but there is usually a colour that suits everyone.

Foiling is done on the paper before the box is actually covered with it, so even if we do measure the position exactly to the micron of a millimeter, a variation may still happen to the position when it is placed on the box.  For this reason we always advise the client to place their foil at the bottom corner of a box, where it is much easier to line up once the box is covered.

 These variations is not the norm  but please remember the foiling and box covering process are all done by hand, each box is a unique mast

erpiece. 

We are able to foil on our matt range of papers as well as our wibalin and stardream or shimmer paper.  Please note that the wibalin (linen) paper has a texture to it that will sometimes affect the way the foil attaches to the material.  

When choosing your artwork please refrain from a lot of solid pieces and try to use more outlines in your design.

The initial layout for purchasing a foiling block may sound a bit expensive but when considdering that this block, if the artowork is done cleverly, can be used throughout the year to promote your brand in a variety of colours, and on a variety of gift boxes.
